Letter written by Cyprian Southack to Governor Shute on May 13, 1717. Courtesy of the Massachusetts Archives, 51:291.
In this letter Southack continues to describe the problems he is having dealing with the locals and trying to recover items after the shipwreck of the Whydah on April 26, 1717.
He tells of how so many people got to the site first thing in the morning following the wreck that there essentally there was "nothing left of value" by the time anyone in authority was able to get there.
